Yangbans are a K-rock band that merges Eastern philosophy with modern sound, guided by their unique musical ethos: Pungryu—“Wind & Flow.” Their music is a meditation in motion, weaving improvisation, emotional depth, and reflective space into what they call Myoh (妙)—a subtle, transcendent harmony.
Originally debuting in 2014 as Jun Bum Sun and the Yangbans, the band was nominated three times at the 2017 Korea Music Awards for Best Album, Best Rock Album, and Best Rock Song, and won the latter with “Revolution”. Following frontman Jun Bum Sun’s military service and a shift in membership, the group reemerged as Yangbans, embracing a more collective, fluid creative direction.
Jun is a bestselling author with a BA from Dartmouth, and an MSt from Oxford. His refined philosophical language and fluency in English makes him a strong communicator on the global stage. The other members(Lee Jihoon, Noogi, Yoon Sungho, Dalgi) are accomplished musicians with producing and session experience with K-Pop supergroups like BTS, XG, Epik High, and Jannabi, to name a few.
Their genre palette—rock, progressive, psychedelic, funk—is merely a foundation. What defines Yangbans is their ability to bend sound beyond category, infusing Korean rhythm and Eastern aesthetics into immersive, cinematic compositions that resonate universally.
